"Finally, the movie that proves that Justice isn't always Poetic, Jungle Fever isn't always pretty, and Higher Learning can be a waste of time."

Don't be a Menace is a hysterical parody of the early-mid 90's urban/gangster films that broke onto the scene such as Boyz in the Hood and Menace2Society. Conceived by the Wayans brothers who also created the Scary Movie franchise; Don't be a Menace takes place in South Central L.A. and stars Shawn Wayans as Tray (Ashtray), who is sent to the hood for some unknown reason to live with his father, who is somehow a few years younger than him.

Upon arriving in the hood, he meets up with his cousin Loc Dog, played by Marlon Wayans, who is the very essence of ghetto. In their group is a self-hating black guy named Preach, and a crazy guy in a wheelchair named Crazy Legs. Together they get into multiple adventures and rivalries in the hood. Tray's grandmother is a weed-smoking, profound, OG thug and she is hilarious. In a breakdance competition at church, Grandma busts a move and struts her stuff to victory.

At a party, Tray meets a girl names Dashiki, who has eight children. Tray ends up sleeping with Dashiki in what is built up as a romantic, tender love making session but ends quickly and humorously. A few seconds after it's over, Dashiki tells Tray she's pregnant with his child already. Now Tray is confused and eventually embroiled in conflict with Dashiki's ex-con ex-boyfriend, Toothpick, who often makes gay references about his time in prison.

Tray confides in his younger father and decides he wants to take Dashiki and the kids out of the hood. This isn't accomplished without a fight. Toothpick and his gang (who's initiation ritual involves jumping rope) tries to shoot up Tray and his friends, but Grandma is there to save the day and pops out of a dumpster and shoots up Toothpick and his goons Dead President's style.

In the end, everyone goes their separate ways. Tray and Dashiki get married and move out of the hood. Loc Dog becomes a TV show host, preach and his new white girlfriend settle down together in a trailer in the hood and Crazy Legs becomes a ballerina. And Grandma continues to be Grandma, smoking weed, being crazy and driving around town in her OG 6.4 with the hood down.
